A trip to the Cedarspan™ display centre led David on a path to a tree change lifestyle.
“We were looking around at what was available, and we went out to Girraween. I said to Doug, ‘how much is this one?’”
As it turned out, it was for sale.
“We bought your ex-display cabin.”
Since then, it’s been a holiday home and a place for his children to experience a simpler life.
“We’ve got two money drainers. They’re both young adults now.”
“They all learned how to drive out there.”
Set on 110 acres, it’s far from city life.
“We escape out to the bush on weekends.”
David recounts how he and his wife built their country lifestyle.
“It was already erected. The guys at Cedarspan™ pulled it all down, and Elke and I rebuilt it on our property.”
“Doug supplied all the plans, and there was always the backup there by phone. So it was all pretty straightforward.”
It was the ease of construction that appealed most to David.
“There’s good engineering behind it.”
“You can pick up a panel and bolt it together in the modular style, and away you go.”
In completing the internal fit-out, David says he’s in no rush.
“We don’t make it a chore. We do a little bit each time. Finally, we’re up to finishing the ceiling one day.”
And his advice for anyone considering a tree change?
“If you can handle being out in nature and not having a coffee shop around the corner. Do it! Personally, I enjoy the bush.”
