Initially, the barn was added to this Shoal Haven property as a outdoor space for the kids to retreat to. However, it has proven invaluable as the ultimate venue for hosting family get-togethers. Spacious and practical, it has been known to comfortably fit 16 for Christmas dinner!
Glynis personalised her barn with a bi-fold white aluminium door on the gable end to maximise the flow between inside and outside when entertaining. She added our hand-crafted timber barn doors to the outside of these bi-folds to maintain the overall rural barn aesthetic, creating a perfect synergy between practicality and design. “We wanted ours to look like a rural barn. We wanted it to compliment the house that we built,” Glynis explains.
The doors open into a large open-plan living room, making for a beautiful versatile entertaining space for the whole family to enjoy.

When asked what Glynis loves most about her Cedarspan, its loftiness is at the top of her list, achieved by the cathedral ceiling and 3m wall height.
Glynis explains, “We went for extra height. We went for higher walls, and you’ve got such a fantastic sense of airiness and space…It makes it seem so much bigger because of the height.”
Glynis says her Cedarspan has exceeded expectations when it comes to how useful and versatile it can be.
“I can’t put a figure on it, but it has been far more useful than we could have ever imagined…In terms of its use, it’s invaluable,” she tells us.
But it’s not just the indoor space that is proving its worth. Glynis added a verandah to each side of the barn, telling us, “On and off, we store so much stuff under the verandahs because they’re so weatherproof.”

It took just one weekend for Glynis’ son and his friends to have the whole barn installed to lock-up stage.
It was only then that she realised her Cedarspan dream was really coming to fruition. In just two days, she had a separate space for the teenagers to gather, giving the adults some peace and quiet in the main house.
Glynis chose the Cathedral Loft Series 40CHL60 Barn measuring 7.2m x 10.8m, with a 1.9m x 10.8m Verandah to either side.
She personalised her Cedarspan with sustainable vertical hardwood cladding, aluminium windows & doors in “White”, and Colorbond® roofing in “Woodland Grey”.
